7 Proven Ways To Boost Social Media Success

Dry January doesn't mean dry marketing

You've poured blood, sweat, and tears into building and growing your business into what it is today. You're incredibly proud of it and you're geared up to make 2023 your best year ever.

But when you hop online to share, no matter the content execution, it feels like you're shouting into a void. Where is everyone? No likes, no shares, no comments, and worst of all, no new customers — really?

This is a sign to immediately stop what you’re doing. One of two things are happening.

  1. Your aren’t getting in front of the right audience

  2. Your audience is telling you everything with their nothing engagements.

First things first, dive into research mode. Take a look at what other companies in your industry, competitors and brands in other markets alike, are doing in their social strategies and take note of what’s working.

Next, take a closer look at your audience. Closer, closer… get into their shoes and identify what their daily pain points are, where they’re spending their time online, what content they’re currently engaging with, what drives their decision making and what needs to happen for them to have a need for what you’re selling.

Now that you have a feel for what truly connects (and doesn’t) with your audiences, it’s time to focus on your social media marketing execution. We’ve done the research, analyzed the analytics and are serving up 7 ways you can capture social media success!

Kick Start Engagement in Your Social Media Marketing:

1. Short Form Videos: Video is where it's at these days. Include more video content in your marketing efforts, including behind-the-scenes takes so your customers can connect with the people behind your brand. Instagram Reels, TikToks, and YouTube Shorts are all fab places to start.

2. UGC: Adding some user-generated content (UCG) builds trust between your customers and your brand because they can literally see themselves engaging with it, making them the hero and your brand heckin' relatable. Examples: videos of customers using your product, unsolicited reviews in an Insta carousel, or a contest to vote on customer-submitted videos. You can check out Tik Tok for countless examples of UGC.

3. Storytelling: Powerful storytelling can elicit an emotional response from your customer, and when they feel seen and heard, they immediately connect to your brand. This can be done everywhere: in blogs, social posts, and even website landing pages. Be real about who you are and how your hard lessons can translate into their victories.

4. Engagement: Biggest ick when it comes to engagement is a copy/paste template comment or strategy. This feels disingenuous and immediately turns people off. Social media is about connection! Show up as yourself with genuine comments and conversations. This is how you truly build relationships and a loyal audience.

5: Stitch: Jump onto a viral video to get eyes on your content and brand. You can do this in two ways:  1. stitch the first five seconds of the viral video and add your video or 2. Duet the videos side by side, adding copy on your side to provide context.

6. Experiment: Repurpose content created on one platform and, with strategy, post to other social media platforms and dig into the analytics to determine outcomes. You can use a free app like SnapTik or TikHero to remove the TikTok watermark. Added insight: we’re hearing that Facebook profiles are providing brands with incredible follower increases and TikTok has yet to truly lockdown reach potential like some other platforms we can think of, ahem. The dynamics of these platforms are always changing, underlining the importance of strategic testing.

7. Paid Promotion: Gone are the days of posting your relationship status on Facebook and having 117 immediate reactions. In certain arena’s social media has become a pay-to-play venue. Depending on your growth and revenue objectives, this might mean it’s time to start dedicating a budget to strategic messaging to achieve true visibility.
